As some of you know, I have been working on a new arcade replica project based on MAME and some other emulators all wrapped up nice with hyperspin, or running on a raspberry pi. It has been some hard work, but it has come a long way from its starting point. At the beginning, I found out the raspberry pi can handle some emulation of older systems. Upon finding that out, I had to find an older arcade machine in order to breath life into it again. Thus began the journey I have nearly completed now. I have created a template from the arcade machine in my house, and recreated it to a degree at the woodshop at my work. The basic housing looks as it does below at this point, other than the fact it got a fresh coat of paint today.
The original one I picked up was a Mortal Kombat II arcade machine I played myself in my teen years. I remember well the gameroom at wildwood acres, where many a quarter clinked into the bucket and games were played to the end of days. Street Fighter II was another classic. The beauty in this effort is that it played multiple arcade games, and console games that I also grew up with. Many consoles like Sega master system, NES, Sega genesis, and PlayStation just to name a few. This project can be attributed to many peoples work and links I will display at the bottom, below the pics of the original system that has been modified to fit a 25″ crt tv for the monitor, and a x-arcade stick for the controls. I am building a new control set using the xin-mo ps3 usb setup.
